Katherine Tressie Breese was born March 30, 1932 to Roy and Arminta Peace in Thayer, Missouri. She was the 6th of 7 children. She lived there until the age of 14 when the family moved to the greater Los Angeles area. She entered Bell High School that fall which was several times larger than her hometown. She met Wilbur Breese through a brother and married him on June 14, 1951. They moved to Corvallis to finish school and he took a research professor position with Oregon State at Newport. She and “Willy” had two sons Paul and Tom. She was a home maker until they graduated but was active with volunteering with the Newport Hospital Auxiliary and at her election precinct. She belonged to the local TOPS club and worked in retail. Willy passed away in June 1997 from an unexpected cancer diagnosis and short illness. Katherine then began attending Newport’s Senior Center. She volunteered with many duties there and was on their advisory board for several years. She was a mainstay of their pinochle games as well as other card groups and competitions. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her six brothers and sister, her husband, and one granddaughter, Elizabeth. She is survived by her sons Paul (Donna) and Tom (Karen). She also has three grandchildren: Jodi (Joe), Jamie (Kyle), and Wayne. She has four great-grandchildren; Brooke and Tyler Moade, Piper and Trask Jenson. She passed away peacefully at Regency Albany on August 16, 2020 of age related causes. She had requested that there will be no public memorial service.
