Johanne Pearl Simmons was born March 1, 1942 in Houlton, Maine and passed December 14, 2018 in Springfield Oregon. Johanne was preceded in death by her parents: Clayton and Abby Rollins of Corning California and her husband Bill Simmons of Springfield.
Johanne and Bill married June 15, 1963 and lived in Newport and Siletz for 33 years. Raising two boys, John and Bob. Their home was always open and was always busy with neighborhood kids and friends.
Johanne was the municipal judge for the City of Newport for many years. Upon retirement, Johanne and Bill packed up and moved to Springfield. They then shared several years snow birding in Yuma, Arizona and El Golfo, Mexico.
Johanne enjoyed playing cards, bowling, red hats, puzzles, bunco and was a long time member of the Baptist Church. Nearing the end of Johannes life, longtime friend, Barbra Lewis faithfully stood by her side taking care of her until she passed peacefully at the Hospice House.
Johanne is survived by her two sons, John Simmons of Springfield (Rosaleen Kosydar of Albany), Bob Simmons (Brandy Simmons) of Eugene, 3 grandchildren (Matthew, Melissa, Logan) and 4 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Johanne’s name to the “Soup Kitchen” at Calvary Baptist Church PO Box 1052 Newport, OR 97365 A celebration of life will be held at the Siletz Grange on Saturday January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Potluck to follow.
