Sam was born in Juarez Mexico January 13, 1956, and he passed away September 19, 2019 in Newport, OR.
As a 36 year veteran of the Lincoln County Road Department, it is very likely you all saw him at some point improving the many roads in Lincoln County. He loved his dogs, and their offspring are spread around with various members of his family locally and across the country.
He was also an avid collector of all things musical whether it be guitars, amps, drums, CD’s, cassette tapes, and of course vinyl records. There wasn’t a band worth seeing that that he didn’t see!
Sam was an RC collector and model builder. He was a WWII history buff who collected model planes, tanks, and trains of the era. He enjoyed his model railroad collection along with the LEGO sets he accumulated, the envy of his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth Oscar Houston and Rosa Maria Houston. He is survived by his siblings; Mary Lou Kerns, Ken Houston (Shaun), Rick Houston (Renee), John Houston (Jackie), Janet Johnson and Michele Tegner (Tiven). The true loves of his life, his Nieces and Nephews; Julieanna Boyer (Jeb), Rebecca Whiteley (Phil), Theresa Green (Edward), Chantelle Madrid (Jed), Willie Houston (Katie), Alexander Houston (Maya), Jessica Johnson (Conan), Teigon Tegner (Gwen), JanaRose Johnson (Nicholas), Max Houston, Katie Eason (Dylan), Tayesa Tegner, CJ Houston, Christian Houston (Molly), Charlotte Houston and …his numerous great nieces and nephews to boot. Not forgetting his longtime friend, Mary Metcalf.
Sam pursued numerous interests, and could talk with anyone about anything. He will be truly missed, but he lives on in our hearts and the roads of Lincoln County.
His life will be celebrated at the Rogue Brewery on the Bay, 2320 SE Marine Science Dr. Newport, OR 97365 on Sunday October 13th from 1-3PM.
