James Manning Jr. (85) from Siletz, OR passed away in Legacy Emanuel Hospital Portland, OR June 17, 2019. Son to James D. Manning and Grayce Garnet (Townsend) Manning from Oregon City, OR.
Don attended OSU for Pharmacy Science, then went onto PSU for secondary education. He also served in the Army, beginning in May 1954-56, with an adventure in the Marshal Islands as a Communications Specialist. Don continued in the Reserves until being honorably discharged April 1962, in which he decided to join Crown Zellerbach in West Linn, OR. In 1961, he moved to the Oregon Coast and proceeded to work for GP until his retirement in 1997, where he was a proud union member and served on the safety committee for several years. Don loved to fish and camp throughout his life, and was also a proud member of the Masons and Elks.
Don’s first marriage was to Mary Delle (Montgomery) in 1958, having two children; Ahura (Linn Manning) Grace Henke, and Lisa Manning. His second marriage was to Marlene (Welke) in 1971, having a son; Eric Manning. Don’s third wife was to Judith Freeman (Ritz) in 1977, having four children; Lori Phibbs (Freeman), Linda Cameron (Freeman), Leigh Manning (Freeman), and Melissa Porter (Freeman).
Don was preceded in death by Lisa Manning, and Lori (Freeman) Phibbs. He leaves his wife Judith Manning, Ahura Grace Henke (Chris), Eric Manning (Cheryl), Linda Cameron (Brian), Leigh Manning (Darin), and Melissa Porter (Darin); 10 grand children, and 9 great grandchildren.
