Jack Dean Hannen, 80, passed away at his home in Newport on August 4, 2017 due to congestive heart failure.
Jack was born in Portland, Oregon to Clifford and Alice Hannen (Fletcher) on May 29, 1937. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, class of 1955. He then enlisted and served with the National Guard from 1955 through 1958.
He married Jeane Candace Turner on June 7, 1985 in Reno, Nevada.
Jack was a US Postal Serviceman for over 24 years, retiring in 1997. He served as the Postmaster in Depoe Bay, OR at retirement. He received Commendation from the US Postal Service 1984, Salem MSC Managers Award 1988, Citizen of the year Award 1991, and National Association Postmaster for outstanding services 1995.
Jack was a member of the South Beach Church and American Postal Union. He loved fishing, crabbing and watching the boats in the Bay. His favorite was spoiling his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jeane Hannen; daughter Crystal Lester (Bob) of Tualatin, OR; sons: Curtis Hannen (Shauna) of Vancouver, WA, David Turner (Ellen) of Newport, OR, Darrin Turner (Jennie) of Toledo, OR; sisters: Lucy Maslen (Eldon) of Gaston, OR, and Shirley Jones (Loren) of Eugene, OR; grandsons: Garrett and Collin Hannen, Justin Turner (Jessicca), Ryan and Jeremy Turner; granddaughters: Daylyn Turner, Jackie Turner, Olivia Hannen and McKenzie and Paige Lester; ten grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Alice Hannen; brothers Bob and Don Hannen and his special friend little Katie.
A private celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
