Injuries make the young Taft Tigers even younger

LINCOLN CITY — The Taft Tigers football program is a young team. With only five seniors on the roster, Head Coach Jake Tolan’s team has had to rely his youthful players to play major minutes on Friday nights. Yet, the Tigers are even younger heading into Friday’s game against St. Mary’s in Medford. Taft will also be without starting senior receiver Cole Kisell, who is serving a one-game suspension. When the Tigers face St. Mary’s, they will only have two seniors available. Josh Salsbery — the team’s leader in receptions, yards and touchdowns — went down with an ankle injury. WIth a splint on his ankle, Salsbery is at risk of missing multiple games. “(Josh) is out indefinitely,” Tolan said. “We may get him back for the last game of the year, that’s a lot of production that we are missing. He has 20 reactions and 400 yards and couple touchdowns in four games. Somebody is going to need to step up to fill that void.”
