INHOUSE Jazz will continue its 2019 season with a concert hosted by vocalist Annie Averre, featuring Grammy nominated musicians Randy Porter (piano) and John Wiitala (bass), with special guest Wayne De Silva (saxophone). It will take place this Sunday, Sept. 1, from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in Siletz.
This trio will showcase classic ballads, jazz standards and deliver a combination of classic jazz and Latin standards with favorite selections from the artists’ recordings. This concert is the last in the piano series of the INHOUSE Jazz 2019 season.
Nominated for the 60th Grammy Awards, Porter’s release, “Porter Plays,” is a mix of swing, harmony and lyrical adventure. In the spirit of Cannonball Adderley and Nancy Wilson, tunes featuring Nancy King are interspersed with instrumental tracks featuring the Randy Porter Trio.
Wiitala is a powerful bassist who has worked with some of the greatest names in jazz, including Joe Henderson, Junior Cook, Charlie Rouse and James Moody, to name a few. De Silva, originally from Hawaii, currently resides in the San Francisco area, where he plays in clubs, festivals and concerts.
