Inciting the insurrectionists

I was going to list all the people in Congress who had incited the insurrectionists on/before Jan. 6, but there are so many it would have taken up the entire letter.

According to the New York Times, a few examples are Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who on the day of the riot said, in front of the crowd, “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and kicking ass. Are you willing to do what it takes to fight for America?”

Another example is Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who for weeks promoted the Jan. 6 riot and other “Stop the Steal” events across the country and referred to Mr. Biden as the illegitimate usurper.

Then there are Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) who referred to the day as a “1776 moment.” Both feel they should be allowed to carry firearms onto the House floor.

Mr. Brooks, Mr. Gosar, Ms. Greene and Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) met with the former president at the White House in December to discuss their drive to overturn the election results. They discussed how the process would play out on the House and Senate floors.

Then there are Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) who have also been accused of inciting this riot — there are many more.

And through all this, the former president has incited unrest for the past four years. Let us hope that all this comes out in his impeachment trial and he is barred from ever running for office again.

There must be a thorough investigation of this riot to find out exactly what was said and done by these people, then actions must be taken to make sure this doesn’t happen a second time.
