The Toledo Fire Department responded to a call reporting a house fire at 747 NW Elizabeth St in Toledo, just before noon on Sunday. An engine and several support vehicles were dispatched, with a total of 11 Toledo staff on-site — the additional support of four firefighters was provided by Newport Fire Department.
Due to the location of the house, traffic on Hwy 20 experienced some slowing and was eventually brought down to one lane of use near the intersection.
The fire, which Chief Dave Inman described as a “smaller fire” originated in the attic and the cause was determined to be electrical. The house’s occupants were evacuated with no injuries. Water was obtained without issue and the fire was contained within a few hours.
Firefighters returned to base at approximately 3:30 p.m.
