Here come the Dungies

The Dungies are back. In its third year of existence, the AAA Legion Post 116 Mid-Coast Dungies, comprised of high school baseball players up and down the coast, opens its season play on Wednesday, June 13. “It’s really good to be back on the field and getting to know the guys,” said Dylan Crowell, a graduating senior from Newport. “I really like this group and I feel like we are going to have a lot of fun. I think Wednesday we will be more than ready, I feel like we are going to have a lot of fun — win, lose or draw, it’s gonna be a lot of fun, no doubt.” The previous two years, the Dungies have seen a small improvement from eight wins in 2016 to 10 in 2017, however, both years ended with losing records and missing the postseason. But this summer, the roster may be as strong as it’s been in that span. “All the good players on the central coast are wanting to play for the Dungies now,” said head coach Taylor Plesha.
