Henrietta Pernille Halverson of Newport, Oregon went on to be with the Lord on December 2, 2017 with her family at her side. Henrietta (Etta) was born February 9th 1919 in Portland, Oregon to Conrad and Helga Rodli. Etta was the oldest daughter in a family of seven children, four boys and three girls, who have all preceded her in death. At the age of twelve, Etta and her family moved to Newport where she lived the remainder of her life. Etta graduated from Newport High School in 1937. Etta married Roy T. Halverson in 1938 and had three children, Marie, Rosetta, and Robert.
Henrietta is survived by her son Robert (wife Doreen), their children Erik (Kelsi), Angie (Jeff), Christi (Paul), Darla, Cassie (Alec), Brianna, and Marie’s son James (Eiko). She also left behind fourteen great grand children as well.
Henrietta was a loving wife and mother. She not only raised her own children but took in family members throughout the years as the need arose. Etta was also an accomplished musician playing the piano, violin and the accordion. She was able to play by memory over three hundred hymns.
Henrietta was a charter member of the Newport Assembly of God Church and participated in ministries there over the majority of her life. She led the choir and produced many Christmas programs over the years. She also taught Sunday School classes and was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Etta also played the piano and organ at the church.
The family wishes to thank the many caregivers and the medical staff of the Samaritan Hospital for their wonderful support of Henrietta during this last season of her life.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Assembly of God Church in Newport, Oregon Saturday, January 20th at 2 p.m. with a time of food and fellowship following.
