Habitat for Humanity duplex

The Newport City Council and city officials pose for a photograph on Monday during a meeting held to tour an almost-completed Habitat for Humanity duplex on Pine Street. The city deeded the land in 2016 for Habitat to construct the two-family home, and later paid for expensive sidewalk work in front of the property. A family is expected to move into one half of the duplex soon, with another joining them next door after the first of next year. Pictured above, from left, are Councilors CM Hall, Dietmar Goebel, Cynthia Jacobi, Mayor Dean Sawyer, Community Development Director Derrick Tokos and City Manager Spencer Nebel. Pictured below, Jacobi and Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln County Vice President Holly Romero admire the interior of the nearly finished duplex. (Photos by Kenneth Lipp)
