After nearly a year in Waldport, Gypsy Sister Soap Company opened in a new location, 401 SW 9th Street, in Newport this July.

“I had a really good experience in Waldport,” owner Brandy Dunaway Womack said. “I love my logo because it was designed by the high school kids there. But the size of the store was like a closet. With a bigger location I am able to expand. I really enjoy the community in Newport too. I feel like this is a great place.”

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Gypsy Sister offers handmade soap and bath products, jewelry, local art, face painting and notary services.

“All of my products are reiki charged,” Womack said. “My children have always had super sensitive skin, so I started making products for them. On the holistic healing side, I’ve taken classes for awhile and reiki has done so much for me in my healing process with all the trauma I’ve had in my life. I want to share what has helped me.”

Womack added she face-paints for events, parties and markets. Of the 35 different soap products, she highlighted new lines of shea butter and goat milk.

“I’ve had a big request for shampoo bars, so I will have those to offer soon,” she said. “I also hope to be able to offer classes in the future too. I have a couch here as well. I want my shop to be a place where people can come and feel at home. I’m also really excited for Halloween. I know this is a big trick-or-treat spot. I want to bring some fun and magic.”

Womack emphasized that is her goal in life.

“My son was killed three years ago this August, and if I’m going to be here, then I’m going to do good,” she said.
