PHOENIX — On the bus ride home following Newport’s 2-1 victory in the first round of the 4A playoffs, Head Coach Ollie Richardson had a splitting headache.
It might’ve been caused by spending nearly five hours on a bus, then coaching a playoff game, then getting back on the bus and spending the next five hours returning to Newport.
Or it might have a residual effect of watching his team dominate in the attacking third, get clean shots on goal and not converting those opportunities into points.
“We had what I would call five easy goals that we should’ve scored,” Richardson said. “And those were the easy ones, there were a lot more that we had opportunities to score.”
