The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians has organized a fundraising effort for the family of a young boy who died recently in Toledo.
Brynden Daniel, the 15-month-old son of tribal member Katherine Daniel, of Toledo, drowned on Nov. 3. The family also recently lost Brynden’s uncle, Jesse Daniel, who died on Oct. 8 at the age of 37. This has left the family with the expense of having to pay for two funerals within a short period of time.
Tribal members and other area residents are encouraged to help this family in their time of need. Today, (Friday), Nov. 9, an Indian Taco fundraiser will be held at the Siletz Tribal Community Center, located at 402 Government Hill in Siletz. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and dinner will be served from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tacos are $7 each, which includes a beverage. A family meal deal is available for dinner, which consists of five tacos for $30.
Monetary donations for the family are also being accepted at Columbia Bank in Newport, 506 SW Coast Highway (reference the memorial fund for Brynden Daniel). People can also drop off donations at the front desk of the Siletz Community Health Clinic, located at 200 Gwee-Shut Road in Siletz.
