A two-hour sunset cruise on Newport’s Yaquina Bay, called Cruising with the Stars, is being planned for Saturday, Sept. 14, to raise funds for the Samaritan House Family Homeless Shelter.
This river/bay trip and dinner cruise will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is being organized by Don Chapin and Linda Yapp Chapin, who are among the seven local couples taking part in the third annual Dancing with the Coastal Stars, a benefit for Samaritan House. Some of the other couples who are part of the dance competition are expected to be going on the cruise, as well.
Fran Matthews, the owner of Marine Discovery Tours, is donating the use of the charter vessel Discovery for this tour, and local restaurants will be donating the food and beverages. All proceeds will go to Samaritan House.
The cost for this all-inclusive tour is $50 per person or $85 per couple. Tickets can be purchased online at cruisingwiththestars.bpt.me
The dance competition, Dancing with the Coastal Stars, will take place at the Newport Performing Arts Center on Sept. 27. In addition to Don Chapin and Linda Yapp Chapin, this year’s dancing couples include Steve and Bunny Dooher, Kelly Gutierrez and Kyle Rickard, Minda Stiles and Itchung Cheung, Dustin and Amanda Capri, Andy and Sarah Albright and Joe and Chasse Davidson.
