Florence M. Parks-Hooker


May 28, 1935 – June 9, 2017

Florence M. Parks-Hooker, age 82 of Newport, Oregon passed away of natural causes at home on June 9, 2017. She was born in Eddyville, Oregon to Donald Hopkins and Dorothy Pepin and attended Harlan Elementary an Eddyville High School.
She married Robert L. Parks and they had five children: Robert L. Parks Jr. of Eddyville, OR, Carol A. Tweed of North Bend, OR, Bill (Jenny) Parks of Otis, OR. and Dawn Parks of Corvallis, OR, and Suzie Allen. Robert L. Sr. passed away and she later married Bob Hooker whom also preceded her in death.
Florence was an amazing mother and wife. She loved quilting, camping, gardening, traveling, photography and above all her family and friends. She was a Lincoln County Social Worker for over 20 years. She had lived in Harlan, Eddyville, Toledo and Newport, Oregon, a lifetime native Oregonian.
Florence is survived by her children Robert Jr., Carol, Bill and Dawn; her brother Don Hopkins (Glenda) of Sweet Home, OR; sister Judy Prindel of Lebanon, OR; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; nieces: Kim (Jason) Armstrong, Kathleen (Shane) Cockran, Jennifer (Todd) Maynard, Tammy Baskins, Niki Prindel; nephews Marvin Shumway and Jerry (Natasha Prindel).
Florence was preceded in death by both of her husband’s; her daughter Suzie Allen; grandson Jim Parks and both of her parents.
Funeral Services: Viewing June 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. Graveside services will be at Eddyville Cemetery June 15, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newport Hospice.
