The decathlon is widely considered to be the most physically demanding and ultimate test of athleticism.
It’s a grueling challenge made up of 10 different track and field events that test an athlete’s speed, endurance, strength and jumping ability and takes two days to complete.
It’s a fitting event for the Newport’s five-sport athlete, senior Ronan Krutzikowsky, who finished fourth at the Summit Decathlon with a combined score of 4906.
Competing in soccer, cross country, swimming, track and field, as well as sailing, Krutzikowsky has a difficult time finding a sport that he doesn’t enjoy.
“I just like doing stuff,” he said. “I like them all, track is one of my favorites that’s for sure.”
He isn’t just a busy athlete, but a successful one as well.
