Finding school bus drivers uphill battle

Employees needed

LINCOLN COUNTY — Mid-Columbia Bus Co., which provides transportation to 3,000 students in Lincoln County, is looking for bus drivers for the 2018-19 school year in Toledo, Waldport and Lincoln City. With the start of the school year coming up for the Lincoln County School District in early September, Mid-Columbia officials are scrambling to find school bus drivers to fill several vacancies created by a wave of resignations and terminations. “We have those who are ready to retire, and some are looking for full-time work,” said Bertha Chavez, Lincoln County location manager for Mid-Columbia. “Some find a full-time job and don’t come back for the next school year.”
