The 21st annual Yachats Village Mushroom Fest is inviting mushroom lovers to come enjoy the wildly delicious this weekend, Friday, Oct. 16, through Sunday, Oct. 18. Restaurant chefs will be offering a variety of wild and cultivated mushroom dishes, and there will also be markets for exotic cultivated and choice wild culinary mushrooms (fresh and dried).
People can also forage for a selection of mushroom books, mushroom products and fungi-themed arts and crafts in shops and galleries around town.
For those who know the festival from prior years, the events coordinator for the Yachats Chamber, Bev Wilson, says they should be prepared for some changes this year. The Ecology for Everyone program,
including the popular speakers forum, workshops, guided mushroom walks and large mushroom displays, had to be canceled due to COVID-19. Instead, this year’s program includes online educational resources, most contributed by members
of the festival’s well-known team of scientists and educators.
This festival is sponsored by the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce. To learn more, go online at yachats.org.
