Elsie Juanita Snyder Wallace of Toledo (OR) passed away surrounded by her family on March 17, 2019 at the age of 88. She was born in Oilton (OK) to Josephine Marie Burke Snyder and Eli Snyder. She later welcomed four sisters and a brother to the family. Elsie graduated from Monroe Union High School in 1948.
On June 5, 1947, Elsie married William Harvey Wallace in Benton County (OR), and they shared 51 years together. Together, Harvey and Elsie had six wonderful children; Kathy, Bill, Karen, Ruth, Rosemary, and Juanita.
Elsie worked at the West Coast Linen and later went to work for the Lincoln County School District as a bus driver. She retired from the school district in 1994 after 24 years of service.
Elsie enjoyed canning (especially her famous Dill Beans), sewing kitchen towels, fishing, and quilting special occasion quilts. Mostly though, she loved to be surrounded by her family, she looked forward to family reunions, class reunions, and her Seniors group in the valley.
Elsie is survived by five of her children Bill (Debbie) Wallace of Albany (OR); Ruth Boddy of Sacramento (CA); Karen McKibben of Toledo (OR); Rosemary Russell of Toledo (OR);Juanita (Chris) Short of Toledo (OR). Her two sisters Barbara (Tommy) Thompson of Monroe (OR), and Donna (Howard) Hamburg of Lebanon (OR); 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parent Eli and Josephine Snyder, her husband William Harvey Wallace; daughter Kathy Ferguson, granddaughter Kathy Sue Ferguson, two sisters Ruby Schindler and Freda Williams; and lastly her brother Ernie.
Graveside services will be held Friday March 22, 2019 at 2:oo PM at Bellfountain Cemetary in Bellfountain (OR).
A potluck for all to attend will follow immediately the services at the Bellfountain School.
