The Element String Quartet is composed of four musicians from the Newport Symphony Orchestra. The quartet will be performing the Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 by J. S. Bach, Divertimento in F by Mozart, Alexander Borodin 's Quartet No. 2, String Quartet by Maurice Ravel, and Bela Bartok's Roumanian Folk Dances.

In addition to being members of the Newport Symphony, members of the quartet have performed with the Oregon Symphony, Eugene Symphony, Portland Opera, Oregon Ballet Theater and Pink Martini.

Opening the program on Jan. 19 will be the West Linn High School String Ensemble under the direction of Georgia Muggli. These talented teenagers will open the evening's program with String Quartet Op. 33 No. 6 by Luigi Boccherini, followed by Felix Mendelssohn's Sinfonia VII in D minor and the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock.

Admission to this concert is free, with donations accepted at the door. This concert is made possible by a grant from the Oregon Cultural Trust.
