Earlier this year, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2817 in Newport held a fundraiser for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lincoln County.

The Eagle’s members, with community support, helped to raise funds in the tradition of the Jimmy Durante’s “For Da Kids” event, and it was termed “a great success.” The Eagles recently presented a check in the amount of $2,500 to Paul Schrader, executive director of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lincoln County.

The nonprofit Children’s Advocacy Center strives to reduce trauma to known and suspected child abuse victims through effective evaluation, treatment and advocacy in a secure, culturally sensitive healing environment, while working to prevent child abuse in all its forms. The center is located at 122 NE 47th St. in Newport, and people can learn more by going online at www.childrensadvocacycenter.net.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles #2817 is located at 106 E Olive St. in Newport.
