David Douglas Larsell, aged 69 of Blachly, Oregon passed in Florence, OR on Thursday November 26th. He leaves behind a large family and friends who will greatly miss his peaceful presence, his infectious laugh and his quiet thoughtfulness.
David was born in Vancouver, WA to David A. Larsell and Joan Larsell in 1951. He was the second-born of six children. The family moved to Portland when David was a child. David and his siblings enjoyed fishing, skiing, and camping. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1969.
David spent his young adult years as a laborer all across the Northwest; he worked as a fruit picker in the Hood River area and treeplanter throughout the NW, enjoying adventure and freedom. Realizing that outdoor physical labor had its downside David pursued and earned his nursing certificate at Linn Benton Community College in 1987. He worked as a Registered Nurse at Peace Harbor Hospital in Florence and Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene. David worked at Peace Harbor up until a few weeks before his passing. He valued his colleagues and patients and he loved being a nurse.
David was a talented musician who loved to play his guitar. He could often be found singing and strumming, on front porches, at weddings, next to a warm fire. He loved his farm and being outdoors, working in the garden, planting trees on his property and working the land with his tractor. He traveled often to visit his children and grandchildren. He found much joy in watching his kids become parents. He was very close with his 5 siblings and parents. David loved his old fruit trees, old time music, old trucks, old houses, and old dogs. He also loved full creeks, full pantries, full harvests, and a sky full of stars.
David leaves behind his mother, Joan Larsell of Fairview, OR, and 5 siblings: Monica Foster, Katie Larsell, Terry Larsell, Bill Larsell, and Matt Larsell; his partner Katherine Larsell of Florence, OR, and 6 children: Justin Tindel of Eugene, OR, Cirrus Sydnes of Coos Bay, OR, Ona Larsell of Pápa, Hungary, Oasis Beagley of Holiday, FL, Elijah Michalak of San Luis Opisbo, CA, Grey Larsell of San Francisco, CA; 10 grandchildren, and 8 nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved and is greatly missed.
