Colored pencil art featured at gallery

The Yaquina Art Association’s current Spotlight Show features artwork from the YAA Colored Pencil Class. The exhibit runs through Feb. 15.

The Yaquina Art Association Gallery is located at 789 NW Beach Drive, in Newport’s Nye Beach District. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.

The YAA Colored Pencil Class takes place every Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at a new learning space, located in the First Baptist classroom behind the church at 208 NW Sixth St. in Newport (next door to Bike Newport). All Yaquina Art Association classes are free, and the Colored Pencil Class welcomes all levels of experience. Learn to draw, and use shading techniques that will make your work stand out.

Our other free classes include:

  • Watercolor painting on Mondays, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.;
  • Oil and acrylic painting on Tuesdays, from 9 a.m. to noon;
  • Pastel Class on Tuesdays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.;
  • YAA Photography Club, meets at the Newport Library lower floor classroom every first and third Monday of the month at 7 p.m.
