City councilman quits mid-meeting


'This gets ran like a (expletive) show,' Button says

SILETZ — Dave Button, a six-year city council member and the water and sewer commissioner, turned his name plaque upside down, proclaimed his true feelings about the group’s accomplishments, announced his resignation and stomped out of council chambers, slamming the door behind him. During the Monday, Feb. 12 regular city council meeting, following the status report from the two public works supervisor Allen Middaugh and Dave Eshleman, Mayor John Robinson asked about the status of efforts to hire more employees to work at the water and wastewater systems. Advertisements for employment have been posted for the past handful of months.
