For the 20th year, members of the Seal Rock Garden Club will be holding their Christmas Greens and Gift Sale. This year’s event is set for Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
With two decades of experience behind them using special machines designed for wreath making, members craft and shape tree cuttings into fragrant wreaths, swags, arrangements and gifts. The greens come directly from a farm near Waldport. Nearly one day after the greens are harvested, the fragrance of noble fir, junipers, cedar and many other local greens fill the Seal Rock Garden Clubhouse alongside the steady thump of the heavy duty wreath-making machines. The clubhouse buzzes with activity.
Across from the wreath makers, the wreath decorators are attaching handmade bows and color coordinating decorations to the wreaths. In a corner, swag designers are up to the their elbows in noble fir. In the floral designers' section, arrangers are at their creative and fanciful best, turning cuttings from members' gardens into designs for every taste and budget.
There will be small, live decorated trees, and a raffle with great holiday gifts. Homemade cookies, hot apple cider and holiday cheer will be served through the day.
The Seal Rock Garden Club is located on the east side of Highway 101 in Seal Rock, next to the old Seal Rock Fire Station at 10377 NW Rand St.
