Wander the streets of Toledo during the town’s monthly celebration of art to visit five locations participating in the First Weekend Toledo Art, an event sponsored by the Yaquina River Museum of Art, 151 NE Alder St. It provides an opportunity for the arts community to showcase their work to the general public.
Featured this month at the museum are jewelry pieces by Erika Strum in tagua nut, found only in palm trees living under full canopy of the rainforests in South America, where harvesting occurs from naturally fallen nuts. Carved by indigenous people, the purchase of this original tagua nut jewelry supports the protection and conservation of the rainforests, their biodiversity and the wildlife within.
