TOLEDO — It came down to the wire on Monday, with Toledo Boomers Varsity taking victory on a dramatic walk-off error in the late innings that sealed their victory over Santiam.

The game was tied at three with Toledo batting in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run for Toledo. Donovan Villenueva hit the ground ball that befuddled a Santiam shortstop, sending Coren Loper home. Loper, who made first base after being hit by a wild pitch, was poised on third after Mason McAlpine singled to right field.

Jaydn Spangler earned the victory on the mound for Toledo Boomers Varsity. He surrendered one run on one hit over two innings, striking out three and walking one. Jaxon Rozewski threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Dyer took the loss for Santiam. He went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out one and walking zero.

Mason McAlpine started the game for Toledo Boomers Varsity. He surrendered two runs on four hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Lyon started the game for Santiam. He surrendered three runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out four.

McAlpine led the Boomers with three hits in three at bats, while Ashton Retherford picked up the only other hit for Toledo. Santiam racked up six hits on the day. Loper, McAline and Villenueva were credited with one RBI each.

Sendlnger and Lyon each had multiple hits for Santiam.
