TOLEDO — Had Toledo lost to Lost River on Saturday, a handful of the team would’ve still made the trip to Pendleton. But only as spectators.
This year’s team won’t just be watching. But that was the routine the last two seasons when the Boomers fell one game short of reaching the state tournament.
But those trips, even if the team doesn’t even step on the court, serve a purpose.
“If that’s the expectations,” said head coach Eddie Townsend of playing in Pendleton, “then that’s what I’m going to do.”
When you lead a team to one win away from a state championship, the way Townsend did in his first season at Toledo, getting to Pendleton becomes the standard.
