The Lincoln County Board of Realtors recently announced its annual $5,000 scholarship winner, and this year, there were enough funds to add a second scholarship of $2,500.
Scholarship recipients are scored blindly (no names, gender or other identifying information) on merit and accomplishments alone, along with their ability to communicate their needs and life goals.
This years recipients are Sonya Cutler, of Newport High School, the $5,000 winner; and Wyatt Schrock, of Waldport High School, the $2,500 winner.
The Lincoln County Board of Realtors Scholarship is open to all graduating seniors in Lincoln County, and the board has announced that next year, in 2020, they are inviting Nestucca High School in Tillamook County to participate, as well.
Lincoln County Board of Realtors and the North Lincoln Hospital Foundation team up together to award two scholarships to one graduating, college-bound student who is pursuing a degree in the medical field. The Lincoln County Board of Realtors proposed the match up three years ago for a possible collaboration. The criteria added is only that the winning scholarship recipient wishes to chose medicine or a related field as their degree.
