Betty Jean (Holmes) White July 20, 1930 - October 27, 2020

Betty White was born in Cleveland, Ohio July 20th 1930 to her parents, Francis Loretta Runkle and Earl Northway Holmes. Betty lived, as a child, in Brooklyn Heights,Ohio, and eventually in LaPine, Oregon where she attended High School. After high school Betty lived in Lebanon,Oregon which is where her love story began with Wilber White.

She met Web on a blind date and they were married on July 28, 1951. Their family grew to include four children. Barbara, Wanda, Gary, and David. During those early years, they had moved to Newport and built their home on San Bay O Circle. The couple was blessed with grandchildren, Bradley, Brian, Nancy, Elizabeth and Sarra, and later great-grandchildren Sabrina, Darius, & Callista.

Web and Betty were very active within the community. Betty was a Den Mother of the local Cub Scouts, she ran the BloodMobile for 16 years, and was very active in the Newport Elks most of their married life. She was a past President of the Local Elkettes, a member of the local Tops club from 1970-2019, & the lunch bunch just to name a few! Betty & Web were avid campers and members of the Elks Camping group. The two served as great ambassadors to the community in all of their volunteer efforts through the Elks, from all of the Holiday events, feeding the community, fundraising for children’s scholarships. Betty enjoyed volunteering at the senior center and helping others in any way she could.

Betty’s laugh was infectious. She was caring, creative and loved being around her family and friends. She was always up for a fun gathering! Betty and Web were married for 69 years. Betty Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 27th, 2020 just 86 days after Webs passing. Betty will be remembered as a loving Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Friend.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilber, her daughter Barbara and her grandson Bradley.
