The 63rd annual Beachcombers Days in Waldport takes place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 14-16, at venues all over town.
The Mayor's Opening Proclamation, followed by the coronation of the 2019 Beachcomber Days Queen, will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Waldport Moose Lodge, 250 NW John St. This will be followed by live music from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the lodge.
Saturday’s main event will be the annual parade through Waldport from noon to 2 p.m., sponsored by the Waldport Chamber of Commerce. This year’s theme is “Legends of The Sea.”
Also on Saturday, the Beachcomber Days Car Show & Shine will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., an A.B.A.T.E. of Oregon Motorcycle Show will go from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., a Strawberry Shortcake Festival will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a Roosterfish Reunion will provide live music at the Flounder Inn from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
A talent show will take place on the main stage on John Street from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and there will be live music on the stage that evening, along with a performance by Sol Fire, a group of fire dancers. Also throughout the day on Saturday, they will be activities for children offered at various locations around town, and there will vendor booths set up at the Waldport Community Center.
On Sunday, vendors will again be set up at the community center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and also at that locations, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be slug races, a frozen T-shirt contest, a watermelon eating contest, bed races and an egg toss.
From 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, the awards and closing ceremonies will be held on the main stage on John Street.
