The Newport Surfrider Foundation will be hosting a showing of the documentary, “Bag It,” at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, at Rogue Brewer's on the Bay, located at 2320 SE Marine Science Drive in South Beach. Admission is free.
The Surfrider Foundation is hoping to raise awareness about why the group believes the single-use plastic bag ban is so important for Newport. This film follows “everyman” Jeb Berrier, who is admittedly not a tree hugger, as he embarks on a global tour to unravel the complexities of this plastic world. What starts as a film about plastic bags evolves into a wholesale investigation into plastic and its affect on waterways, oceans and people’s own bodies.
People who are unable to attend this showing can find out about future showings, and also learn more about Surfrider Foundation, by going online at newport.surfrider.org.
Surfrider Foundation is a nonprofit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world’s oceans, waves and beaches. The Newport Oregon Chapter protects local beaches from Florence to Tillamook.
