Kimberly Bauman used to drive to Newport or Lincoln City to shop in resale stores for clothes for her children. But then she decided that her hometown of Toledo needed what those stores have to offer, and she opened All the Little Children at 388 NE Second St., across from JC Market Thriftway in Toledo.
“We didn’t have one around here, so I just decided I wanted to open my own,” Bauman said of her motivation for opening the business. “I’ve got three kids of my own, so I’m constantly going through new clothes. They are 4, 5 and 7 years old.”
All the Little Children carries clothing for children from newborn to size 14-16. “And I’ve got toys and chairs and swings and cribs and walkers — pretty much anything that pertains to a baby or a kid,” Bauman said.
Many of the items in the store come in through donations, or people bring in clothing their children have outgrown, and receive store credit to purchase larger sizes. “I’ve got a lot of repeat customers already in the time I’ve been here,” said Bauman, who opened her shop last summer. “And there are lots of grandmas shopping for their grandkids.”
Occasionally, All the Little Children will have special offers. “We’re going a bag sale on March 18, fill up a bag for $20,” Bauman said. “And I did a little Facebook deal; mention the post and get 10 percent off your purchase.”
If people have children’s items they no longer need, Bauman encourages them to consider donating them so they can find new life with another family. “Anything that has to do with kids or babies, I’ll take it,” she said.
All the Little Children is open Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bauman said she may be staying open later in the near future to better accommodate people’s busy schedules.
