Enjoy the sights and sounds, and savor the taste of Spain from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today (Friday) at Café Mundo, located at 209 NW Coast St. in Newport
The evening will feature local dancer Sophia Solano and guest guitarist Jeffery Trapp, of Bend, as well as Spain-inspired dinner specials provided by Café Mundo.
In celebration of art in all forms, a benefit silent auction will be held showcasing local artwork in a variety of mediums. This free, flamenco-themed event is sponsored by Chasse and Joe Davidson and organized by Solano. Joe serves the county as Lincoln County Assessor, and Chasse owns and manages Toledo Clayworks, a local pottery studio and gallery where she also offers classes and workshops.
Solano has been working with the Davidsons over the past several months, creating a flamenco tango choreography for the couple to perform as part of Dancing with the Coastal Stars, a dance competition in September that benefits the local shelter facility Samaritan House. All silent auction proceeds will also benefit Samaritan House. Financial contributions can also be made for the dance team online through the Samaritan House website — www.samfamshelter.org/joe-and-chasse-davidson.
