Artist showcases ‘folk art bible’

The public is invited to view a total of 40 drawings by well-known artist Maeona L. Urban at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church on Oct. 25 and 26. The collection is an “Anglo Saxon Colored Pencil Folk Art Bible,” which includes one 18-inch-by-24-inch colored pencil poster drawing for each book of the Old Testament. These posters have been created over a period of 35 to 40 years.

The project began as charts during a personal study in the mid-to-late ‘70s. These papers are now affixed to the back of each poster. The 15-inch-by-20-inch charts were followed by Urban in deciding the visual concepts to use in depicting each book of the Bible. The artist will be present to talk about the pictures and will be happy to answer questions.

The art will be on display Oct. 25-26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church at 360 W 7th St, in Yachats.
