NEWPORT — Randy Ridings is a Missouri man looking to make history as one of the first people to ride across the United States, coast to coast, on a human-powered amphibious vehicle called the Quadyak.
“I’m a retired army officer, so this is what a bored retired army officer does,” Ridings said. “After I got out of the military, I always wanted to do some epic trip, like hike the Appalachian Trail (or) ride a bike across the United States. So I had this idea to make an amphibious craft, a human-powered amphibious craft.”
